HAPpy: Holiday Activity Programme
St Albans City Youth FC and ‘Saints in the City’ has joined forces with partner organisations Hertfordshire County Council, Herts Sports Partnership and the Hertfordshire Community Foundation, to organise a programme for the summer holidays aimed at countering the triple inequalities facing Hertfordshire’s most disadvantaged young people – holiday hunger, physical inactivity and social isolation.
In an initiative funded by the Department for Education, existing organisers of holiday activity programmes such as City Youth have accessed funding to deliver daily, four hour programmes for those young people aged 5 to 16 who are in receipt of free school meals.
St Albans City Youth FC will be running the Camps on 2nd to 5th August and 23rd to 26th August at, Nicholas Breakspear School, Colney Heath Lane, St Albans. Meals will be provided by Herts Catering Limited.
Football Develop Manager Charlie Boswell commented, “City Youth has a long and happy record of providing football activity camps in the school holidays to the children of St Albans. We are delighted to be offer the HAPpy Activity Programme places at our Summer Camps this year as the Club’s ethos of ‘Football for All’ is something we are proud of and is at the heart of everything we do. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to some fun in the sun.”
