St Albans City Youth Disability Team played their first ever FA Cup game against Colchesters Healthy 4 Life. It was a learning experience for the lads. The first half was a close encounter with St Albans nearly taking the lead on 5 occasions, including a 1 on 1 with the Colchester keeper. A serious head injury to Ben Kelly caused concern just before half time, with Ben requiring stitches, but despite being the stronger team it was 0-0 at half time. Colchester came back well in the second half and took the lead in the 53rd minute. St Albans fought back, led by player/manager Andy Gilbey, but the Colchester forwards were fast and managed to pick holes in the Saints defence every time St Albans pushed forward. It ended up 8-0 as tiredness set in but the game was much closer than the score line suggests. Good luck to Colchester in the next round of the cup versus Charlton.
