St Albans City Youth FC - Match Reports w/e 28th October 2018

Away to Aldenham FC Excel United were 18 South and they were really in excellent form as they rattled in thirteen goals to go and win 13-1 with a brilliant performance from everyone. Scoring the goals were Harrison Arnold 3, Alexander Banathy 3, Ross Weaver 3, Harrison Doyle 2, Luke King and Joe Curran whilst Joseph Boyle just edged it to win the man of the match.

In Round 1 of the Challenge Cup saw the 16 South play away to Maccabi London Lions White and the Saints were missing five of their strongest players due to those Damm school holidays but with five minutes to go saw them winning 3-2 and then disaster struck as they conceded two goals to go on and lose 4-3. The man of the match went to Declan Jackson and the team did put in a very disciplined performance.

At home to Boreham Wood 2000 Red in round 2 of the Challenge Cup were the 15 North and they turned in a fantastic performance from the whole team to secure a victory against a much bigger and physical team. The North scored a goal just before half time to get the breakthrough and then kicking downhill in the second half with the wind in their favour they looked the far better side and hit another four goals to go on and win 5-0. Scoring the goals were Tyler Cadiou-McCarthy 2, Andrew Gentle 2 and Daniel Curran. For the man of the match they were spoilt for choice with four contenders but in the end, it was centre back Matthew Smith who got the nod.

A third team which took part in the Challenge Cup were the 15 East and they lost 12-1 to Enfield Town Youth enough said with Brandon Trainis scoring the East's consolation goal.

The 12 Spartans lost 3-0 at home to Go Stars Under 12's.

The 9 East were at home in the Robin Hood section of the Watford Friendly League and they were playing Northwood Gold and scoring goals for the East were Carter Davies 2, Maxim Ushakov and Bradley Bailey with Jakub Miklas being named man of the match.

Also, at home were the Under 7's and they were playing Boreham Wood Youth Crusaders and the match saw plenty of goals and here is a list of the goalscorers Oscar Howlett 6, Eddie Bailey 5, Henry Neville 3, Isaac Smith 2, Seth Keaveny and Jack Durrant phew I thought the list would never end. I was told for one of the goals it included 10 passes before the ball hit the back of the net.

The 18 Girls away to Kings Langley Youth Blue Girls lost 6-2 with Hannah Cowell and Jess Leigh both scoring a goal apiece for the Lady Saints whilst Anna Fuller picked up the player of the match title.

The 17 Girls could only field 8 players due the school holidays in their away game at Kempston Rovers Girls & Ladies but very sportingly their hosts dropped down to 9 players, but they still proved too strong with them scoring two goals in the first half and another four in the second period to go on and 6-0. The player of the match for the 17 Girls was Gracie Fletcher.

Away to Watford Ladies Harts were the 15 Girls and they fought out a exciting 3-3 draw with goals from Anna Marie Spears, Sophie Harrison and Nicole Plumb. Having a brilliant game was Francesca Bradley and in doing so was voted player of the match.

The scoreline at half time was 0-0 between the 14 Girls who were at home Potters Bar Crusaders and that is how it finished a draw but scoreline at full time was 1-1 with Kiera Ward scoring the goal for the lady Saints whilst Lily McMahon was named player of the match.

At home to Garston Ladies Lions saw the 13 Girls North win 5-1 with two goals from Abbie Bierman plus one apiece from Sarah Jane Spears, Viktoria Bogdanov and Blaze Wilding.

The 13 Girls South lost 4-1at home to Pro Direct Academy Herts Girls after the score had been 3-1 down at half time and it was player of the match Grace McMurray who scored the only goal for the South side.

At home to Harvesters Girls saw the 12 Girls North earn a creditable point after a hard fought 2-2 draw. On 7 minutes Emilie Hicks opened the scoring but Harvesters quickly equalized and then went 2-1 in front before Emilie Hicks scored another goal her second of the match to make it 2-2 at half time and that is how the score remained till the full-time whistle. There was a joint player of the match and it went Isla Evans and Hannah Pope.

The 12 Girls South were also drawing 2-2 at half time in there away game at Harpenden Colts Hawks Girls but at the final whistle they had gone down 4-3. Scoring all three goals with a fine hat-trick for the 12 Girls South was player of the match Deenah Khan

Away to Hoddesdon Town Owls Girls were the 11 girls and scoring goals in the first half on this very cold morning were Alessia Cipolla with a wonderful strike from distance plus captain Teagan Scarlett also netted one. In the second period saw Teagan Scarlett score another three goals to take her tally for the match to four. The player of the match went Michelle Lam whilst goalkeeper Vanessa Cipolla did well and kept a clean sheet following this great team performance

Mikayla Blessing was named player of the match for the 10 Girls North in there away game at Evergreen Youth Phoenix Girls.

Enya Brewster scored four goals for the 10 Girls Central as they played Hitchin Belles White at home whilst there were further goals from Emily Ball 2, Mia Di Trolio and Lauren Viney. The player of the match was given to the hard-working Aoife Flanagan.

Great all-round team performance from the 9 Girls who were at home against Bedwell Rangers Athletico Girls and the 9 Girls controlled throughout and were rewarded when Jasmine Mercer calmly finished a wonderful team move. Player of the match Olivia Wood bagged two goals in this impressive team effort, well played girls.

Away to Bedwell Rangers Dragons Girls saw Eden Boswell score a brilliant goal in the second half for the 8 Girls to roundup a excellent team display.

At home to the Wheathampstead Wanderers Makos were the 18 North and they made sure with the north wind blowing that they got the right result with a 3-1 victory. Scoring the goals were Ben Dimmock and those deadly brothers who have really got an eye for goal George Piekarczyk and Henry Piekarczyk whilst the man of the match went to Victor Dehon.

Playing Hemel Youth Yellow at home saw the 16 Central cruise to a 7-0 win with goals from Callum Cornish 2, Daniel Onochie-Williams 2, Luke Hill, Adam Bahouss and Matt Roome. The man of the match was awarded to the hard-working central defender Elliot Smith.

Xavier Clements-Kelly struck an awesome goal for the 16 West in their home with EB Lions and David Joyner also got on the score-sheet but it was not enough for the West as they eventually lost 8-2. Central midfielder Matt Mooney was named man of the match.

Well at last I have got his full name which means now I can say Teddy Cave-Schmidt scored a good goal for the 16 North in their 2-2 draw away at Bushey & Oxhey Lions whilst Sam Parker also netted a sound goal as well. The man of the match was given to defender Nathan Morris.

At home to Sarratt Rebels were the 15 Boreal and they lost 1-0 following a very tight game and picking up the man of the match title was the versatile Jack Carmichael who can play in either midfield or defence.

The 15 South lost out to a physically strong Watford Youth Sports side and went in at half time 2-0 down and then early in the second period they were caught on the break to make the score now 3-0. The South failed to convert a penalty as they tried to fight back especially when not long afterwards Samuel Baker-Madec found the back of the net with a vicious shot for the south to pull a goal back. Late in the game though Watford added another three goals to win 6-1 which gave the scoreline a total unrealistic view. Jake Leech was a constant threat up front and fully deserved his man of the match award.

The 14 West lost 1-0 away to Wheathampstead Wanderers Tigers and that is all I know!

Away to Kings Langley Red saw the 13 Victoria go down 8-2 with Ollie Mullins scoring both goals for Victoria and he also was named man of the match. Four of the goals Victoria conceded all came from corner kicks with Kings Langley having quite a few six footers in their team. Come on Victoria you need some manure in your boots to make you grow.

In round 1 of the Challenge Cup saw the 13 Boreal take on Tring Tornadoes Tigers away and Boreal certainly whipped up a storm of their own with a sizzling 8-0 victory. It was brilliant display from the boys as they dominated from the beginning to the end showing some quality football for the whole of the match. Man, of the match Luke Tunnicliffe scored a hat-trick and he was given the title for dominating display on the left wing like a real professional. The other scorers were Toma Tashev with a brilliant four goals which included some cracking finishing whilst Alex La Placa netted the final goal of the match.

Away to Aston Clinton Cobras were the 12 Central and it was them who had the sting in their tale as the young Saints went onto win 4-1 with two goals from Dean Blandon and two goals also from Josh White. The man of the match was given to wing back Joseph Golding.
