St Albans City Youth FC - Match Reports w/e 3rd September 2017
St Albans City Youth - Boys
The 14 South played a friendly against the 14 North and although the South won 4-1 with them scoring most of their goals in the first half the second period was a most closer affair. Man of the match for the South Tyler Channer scored a hat-trick whilst the South fourth goal was scored by Hadee(another one of those players with just one name). The North goal was scored by Tyler Cadiou-McCarthy.
On the next pitch saw the 14 Boreal take on Dunstable Town and the visitors raced into a 3-0 lead but it could have been more if it were not for the Boreal keeper Ralf Murray who pulled off save after save to keep the scoreline down
In the second half a great lofted shot from Tom Randall made it 3-1 and then Boreal won a penalty but Danny Fowler spot kick was easily saved if that had gone in who know's. Man of the match, of course, was Ralf Murray.
Another couple of STACY teams playing a friendly were the 13 South and the 13 East and the East ran out easy winners by nine goals to nil. Scoring all the goals were Henry Thomas with four, Harry Dawes 2, very even match for George Wilson, Joe Poulton and Wes Mudziviri with a 40-yard lob which went in off the underside of the crossbar.
The 12 West played Evergreen Escolla and twice they came from behind to go into the final five minutes leading 3-2 only to concede a very late goal for the match to end all square at 3-3. The goalscorers for the West were Lewyn Bullock, Charlie Clark plus one from Man of the match Archie Connolly.
The 15 EJA played a friendly against STACY it was a very even match for the first 25 minutes but once the EJA got their noses in front there was no stopping them as they finally finished up 8-0 winners.
Benny Stacey scored a hat-trick all of which were close range efforts whilst Jude Evans netted twice the second of which was a header. The other goalscorers were Harry Brady with a long range lob, Harry Turner with a tap-in and also Jack McShane popped up with a shot from ten yards late on in the match.
The 15 EJA travelled to Essex to play Saffron Waldon Town in a friendly and they took an early lead when Benny STACEY headed home a Jack Kelly corner kick. They nearly made it 2-0 but Stacey's well-struck curling shot from the left went whistling past the far post. Bradley YOUNG did make it 2-0 when he forces his way through the middle and shoots low past the advancing Luca Marimo who later on tips over the bar and around the post numerous shots from the young Saints. Late in the first half for the hosts saw Peter Page strike the far post with keeper Billy Thomson well beaten.
In the second half after they had survived a penalty scare the EJA raced into a 3-0 lead when Benny STACEY raced clear and after going around the keeper he calmly slotted the ball home. It then became 4-0 when Benny STACEY drilled a low shot from the edge of the box into the bottom left-hand corner of the net to complete his hat-trick. Saffron Waldon pulled a goal back through Sak Hassan to make it 4-1 but it was soon 5-1 as Stacey sped away down the right wing and delivered an inch perfect ball into the box for Josh FORSTER to smash the ball into the roof of the net. It then became 6-1 with the goal of the match when Jason FATI from 30 yards hit a cracking shot that flew into the top corner with keeper Luca Marimo thinking he saw a rocket go past him. Late in the game, Sak Hassan made the final score 6-2 when scored directly from a free kick which Billy Thomson could do nothing about as he watched the ball whizzed by him.
