St Albans City Youth FC - Match Reports 15th September 2019



It was going to be a tough game as the 9 players of STACY Girls 18's against the 10 players of the Garston Ladies Lions and it got even worse when they found themselves two goals down but then Alice Benson outpaced a defender and slotted the ball home to make it 2-1 but the Lions roared back with another 4 goals to take a 6-1 half time lead. In the second half the 18's found themselves another player down due to injuries and it took its toll and so they conceded another five goals and then in the finally minutes of the match new signing Megan O'Sullivan pulled another goal back with a cracking 18 yard strike to make the final score 11-2 to the Lions. The player of the match went Laura Gifford.

Away to B.S.C. FC 18 Girls were the STACY 17 Girls and following a tight hard-fought match saw them eventually win 5-3 with Maz Horne-Badet scoring a brace. Also scoring two goals was Sophie Veal whilst Sam Farrer netted one and player of the match was awarded Laura Gifford.

Another STACY team playing away were the 15 Girls and they were away to Potters Bar Crusaders Girls and after a close first half the second period was a different story as the Crusaders rattled in another four goals to win 5-1. Scoring for the STACY Girls was Keira Ward whilst Edith Shakespear was named as player of the match.

It was a tight game which could have gone either way as the score remained at 0-0 at half time as the STACY Girls 14 South played away to Potters Bar Crusaders Blues but two early goals in the second half settled the match and gave the Blues a 2-0 win. The player of the match went to three players and they were Emilia Fishwick alongside Ava Rose and Mia Simmonds.

Losing 6-1 at home to Herts Girls were the STACY Girls 14 North with Thisbe Danford scoring the North's consolation goal whilst Sarah-Jane Spears was voted player of the match for the young Saints.

The STACY Girls 13 South played away to Watford Harts Girls and won 2-1 with a goal apiece from Erin Mill and Deenah Khan with the player of the match going to the hard working Roslin McGregor.

In a hard fought game against some tough opposition saw the STACY 12 Girls North beat Herts Vipers Black 2-1 with a goal in each half and scoring the first one was Rebecca Smith whilst Scarlett Robb scored the other one in the second period. Making her debut was Honey Seabrook and she had quite a good game whilst picking up the player of the match trophy was Emma Bracey. 

At home Geoffs Oak Girls were the STACY 12 Girls Wildcats and after a close 15 minutes the young lady Saints hit five goals to one with two goals from Reece Anscomb plus one apiece from Ellie Ratcliffe, Gracie Adam Avis and Elsa McGaughey. The player of the match went to Katie Lily.

There was a joint player of the match for the STACY 11 Central in there match with Berkhamsted Astrals and they were Mia Di Trolio and Matilda Stuart whilst scoring a couple of goals for Central was Grace Noorian.

Also scoring a few goals in there match with Royston Town Girls were the STACY 11 North Girls and finding the back of the net for were Rachel Kincaid with two and then Roxie Kosh and Shea Fagan both with one each. The player of the match was given to Verity Lobina.

Now calling themselves the Barcelona Wildcats were the STACY 11 Girls Wildcats following their brilliant passing and movement during their game with Bedwell Rangers Griffin. Scoring a few goals for the young lady Saints were Chloe Nuttall with 2 plus one apiece from Emily Gray and Zoe Eyles whilst Roisin Gleeson was named player of the match in that she kept a very calm head on the ball as she sprayed it about calmly from the midfield.

Playing Harpenden Colts Panthers saw the STACY 10 Girls Central play some lovely passing football with Olivia Wood leading the way with a excellent hat-trick. Other scorers were Demi Hall 2, Sacha Davies 2, Jasmine Mercer 2 and then Sophea Bridge scored with a fine individual effort whilst Alexa Johnson who was making her 50th appearance popped up with a scorcher with a fine curling effort from the edge of the box.

Also playing a Harpenden Colts team this one was named the Jaguars and playing them were the STACY 10 Girls Wildcats and scoring goals in this high scoring match between both sides Lizzie Baylis 2, Emily Dormer 2, Siena Sahota plus one from Evie Dullaghan-Stone.

The STACY 9 Girls Romans played Berkhamsted Raiders Galac and scoring a goal each for the Romans were Lucy Carter and Lucy Leonard with the player of the match being awarded to Eden Boswell.

A fine hat-trick from Daisy Oaten got the STACY 9 Girls Central off to a good start in their exciting away match Garston Ladies Tigers and scoring a couple of goals for Central was Nell McKinstry with a neat brace whilst Grace Smith was named player of the match.

The STACY 8 Girls Romans were playing away to Hitchin Belles in the Pink Division and player of the match Grace Fergie scored a excellent hat-trick but Nadeen Kelifa-Young went one better by scoring 4 whilst Bonnie Maclean scored one.

Also in the Pink Division saw the STACY 8 Girls Central play at home to Garston Ladies Jaguars and scoring a few goals for the Saints were Jessica Kutcher, Tegan Broadhurst and one from play of the match Lola Mackintosh.




In division 2 of WHYL saw the 18 West play away Chorleywood Common Lightning and after a high scoring game saw the Saints eventually lose 8-4 with the hosts scoring a few late goals to take all the points. Scoring for the West were Adam Johnson with a brace whilst both James Knapp and Gideon Rowland scored one apiece.

Also going down were the 18 East as they lost 3-2 at home Chorleywood Common Pythons with Connor Robinson and Gowt Selvarjah scoring the goals for the East.

Well what do you know the 16 Boreal also played a team from Chorleywood Common and these were called the Hurricanes(blimey they must have as many teams as STACY FC) but this time it was the Saints who came out on top with a excellent 4-0 victory. Scoring the goals for Boreal were Jake O'Rahilly, Harry Sweetman, Ben Wick plus one from man of the match Tom Randall.

No info from the 16 South who played Bovingdon Storm away in Division 2.

Although the 15 South worked hard in their away match at Bushey & Oxhey Jaguars it proved not to be their day as after a close first half they gradually went down 4-1 to a couple of second half strikes. Scoring the South's only goal was Louis Warren whilst the man of the match was given to Jamie Mcleod.

A goal in each half saw the 15 East record a 2-1 victory away at Wheathampstead Wanderers Pumas with Chester Reynolds and Henry Thomas scoring the goals and Vasilis Estacchini picking up the man of the match award after his hard work in midfield.

Kayan Joseph was named as man of the match for 14 Victoria in their 2-0 defeat away at Sun Sports Blue in a Division 1 fixture.

The 14 west were trailing 1-0 early on away to Everett Rovers Red but the young Saints hit back to go on and win 4-2 with goals from Naguib Mazari, Ben Mitchell, Freddie Penford and a cracking free kick from Issac Templeton which he smashed into the back of the net from the edge of the box. The man of the match went to new keeper Kai Brooks who gave a great performance between the sticks.

Losing 6-2 away Berkhamsted Raiders Green were 14 Orient in a Division 3 fixture and scoring for the Saints were a goal each from Callum Crowther and Jensen Dean.

Sam Hunt scored the only goal for the 14 Central as they lost 7-1 away to Watford Sports Red whilst picking up the man of the match title for the Saints was Oliver Taylor.

The 14 Boreal fought hard in there away match with Bushey & Oxhey Sharks but key injuries to two vital players saw them struggle in the second period and they were gradually worn down to lose 4-0. Giving a great performance at centre half and at left back was Stefando De Marchis and in doing so saw him being named as man of the match.

The 13 South were losing 3-0 at one stage at home to Chorleywood Common Harriers but they hit back with two goals themselves to make the score 3-2 with goals from Ben Browning and Owen Weaver and it now turned into a very exciting match. The South continued to press for a equalizer and they nearly snatched one but in the last minute on the break the Harriers broke away to score a fourth goal to settle the match. The man of the match went to Freddie Yeo.

Finding the back of the net and his shots were certainly on target for the 13 Arrows was man of the match Joe Clinton whose brilliant hat-trick helped the Arrows record a 4-2 away over Hemel Youth Red. The other goal was scored by Fin Murphy and we must not forget that because it was a beauty.

In this very high scoring match between the 13 Central who were at home to Colney Heath Magpies saw the visitors steal all three points with a 6-5 victory. Scoring the goals for Central was Jack Reeves who scored 4 well taken efforts (coached by Clarky) and Jack was also named man of the match whilst Roarke Silcox scored the 13 Central 5th goal.

The 13 West playing some lovely passing football with top class finishing won 6-1 away at Hemel Youth Green and leading the goalscorers was Jasper Button with 3 goals and he certainly knew how to unpick the Hemel defence with his finishing. Other scorers were Kye Stevens with 2 whilst Charlie Rose scored one and picking up the man of the match award was Dylan Martin.

It was not a good day at the office for the 13 Dragons as they were put to the sword and lost heavily at home to Gadeside Rangers but they had a couple of bright spots when both Alfie Brown and Joshua Francois found the back of the net with a couple of good goals. The man of the match was awarded to the hard-working Vinnie Ogden.

The 12 Gladiators were swallowed up by Chorleywood Common Sharks as they lost 5-2 with Ethan Evans and Samuel Philpot just staying afloat as they popped up with a goal each whilst Christopher Datubo covered every blade of grass(or was it water) to win the man of the match and keep ahead of those sharks.

For the second week running saw the 12 Orient score eight goals s they beat Evergreen Hawks at home 8-0 with seven different goalscorers with the man of the match going to keeper Ned Jones who showed calmness during the tricky opening 20 minutes spell but after that Orient sailed away with the match. Scoring the goals were Alfie Long, Adam Lorman, Morgan Francis, Oscar Pawley, Michael Wadsworth, Nicolal Chern and Joshua Kane with two in this fine performance by the 12 Orient with a few new players added to the squad who have fitted in well.

At home to Hemel Youth Blue saw the 12 South pick up a point with a 1-1 draw as Oli Sheen put the finish on the match with a excellent equalizing goal late on.

Berkhamsted Raiders Orange were certainly tangoed as the 12 West won 4-2 away from home and scoring all four of the West's goals was there man of the match Alex Evershed so shall I say it again yes Alex Evershed with four excellent finishes.

Well we have no information from the 12 Centurions who played Harpenden Colts Raiders and the 12 Romans who were at home Hemel Athletic.



Coming back from a goal down were the 18 Central who were playing away to Harvesters South in the White division of the WFL and scoring a first half equalizer was Daniel Onochie-Williams which made the score at the break 1-1. At the start of the second period the Central struck with three goals in the space of six minutes with Daniel Onochie-Williams scoring 2 more to complete his hat-trick whilst Matty Bleakley scored the other goal. The man of the match went Elliot Smith who helped his team to dig in deep to earn a 4-3 victory as Harvesters scored two late goals.

Also playing a White division league were the 18 South and they were at home to Whetstone Lions and two goals from man of the match Ollie Parker earned the South a 3-1 win with Louis Baker-Madec scoring the Saints third goal.

Drawing 2-2 away to Alexandra Park West were the 16 East and scoring both of the goals in this hard-fought draw was Nico Mohan.

In the preliminary round of the Challenge Cup saw the 14 South take on Hadley Rangers and after a high scoring match saw the young Saints just edge it by winning it by six goals to four after a very tight end to end game. Scoring for the young Saints were Cameron Choudhury 2, Joe Varney 2, Alex Varney and Mason Leigertwood.

With only ten players saw the 13 Orient play away against Woodys Ebogs Vapors but although the Orient found themselves a goal down, they battled back to go and win the match 5-2. Leading the goalscorers was Luca Lepley with a brilliant three goals (did he get the match ball) whilst both Lucas Berry and Oscar Noble scored one apiece. The man of the match went to the lone centre back Josh Toop who gave his all throughout every minute of the match.

Playing some really lovely football at time were the 12 Victoria and although they competed strongly throughout, they eventually lost 7-2 at home to Northwood Black when they conceded 4 goals late in the game. Scoring for Victoria was Aidan Keigher and Max Milton as 12 Victoria kept, they the scoreline to 3-2 for a long time.

Away to London Colney Colts Blues were the 11 West and a goal each for the young Saints were Conor Dwyer, Kyle Lloyd, Niall Rodrigues and Jack Burke with Noah Brooks picking up the man of the match title.

In the WFL Gordon Banks division saw the 10 Centurions play at home to a team called Go Stars and hitting a few goals for the Centurions were Finley Griffin 2, Ollie Lee 2 and two from Bailey Fennel(that's my boy) and one from Nathan Payne with Keon Stapleton being named as man of the match.

Next up in the WFL Stanley Matthews division were the 10 East and they played St Albans Rangers Foxes away and getting on the score sheet for the East was Ben Slocombe with a brace and then came Callum  Dunlop and Carwyn Evans with a goal each whilst goalkeeper Alex McAndrew won the man of the match award for his fine saves during the game.



Well do we start with the results that have come in or is name and shame time for the HBDL oh I think it name and shame, right here we go, 8 Central, 9 South, 9 North, 9 Gladiators, 9 Titans, 9 West, 11 South, 11 Orient and 11 Romans so please text me on 07443541477 with your result ok, do not be shy managers.

We start with youngest age group as the 8 South played Knebworth Tigers at home and scoring goals for the South were Harry Hirst with three goals and Adam Davis with two.

The 8 Romans were playing Welwyn Pegasus Azures in the Saints first match at Highfield Park and it must have produced a sparkle in them as Dylan Jones went on to score 4 goals whilst George Cullum and Andreas Veasey both hit two goals each with Liam Evans popped up with one.

Playing Bengeo Tigers Sabres away were the 8 West and there certainly plenty of goal from both sides with getting them for the West were Alex Faldo with 2(with a name like that he should be able to put them away) and Seth Keaveny also got 2 whilst Orla Henry got one plus there was one own goal.

The 9 Tigers roared into action in there match with Watton Youth and scoring goals for the young Saints were Alex Davies 3, Joe Neal 3, Joe O'Malley, George Lim, Oliver Lim plus a hat-trick from the man of the T. Claydon (well done).

Junior Mitchell continues his goal scoring tally by scoring all four goals for the 10 North in their home match in the Green division against Wheathampstead Wanderers Sharks with the North giving a superb team display.

In a thrilling match between the 10 Orient and the 10 West saw Finn Henry score a goal for the South but alas no info from the West (naughty manager).

The 10 Orient played Welwyn Garden City Whirlwinds at home in a Black division fixture and scoring a goal apiece for Orient were Harry Taylor whilst Louis Chen scored with a delicate chip shot.

The 11 East were away to Bury Rangers Reds in a HBDL Green fixture and Harry Herron scored with a curling right footer into the top left corner following a pass from Ethan Robinson. Also scoring was Harry Murphy as he followed up on a Leo Hooper-Walter fierce shot which was pushed out by the Bury keeper. In the first half Gabriel Odunlami was between the sticks and pulled off a few good saves whilst in the second period saw Nikhil Jagota take over the goalkeeper's jersey and he also had a good game in goal. The player of the match was awarded to Tadi Fernando who never stopped running and was also tenacious in the tackle.

Scoring goals for the 11 Central in there match with Wheathampstead Wanderers Pumas were Sam Peacock, Harry Watts 2 and two from Joshua Gibson.

Playing in a White division game were the 11 North and their match was against Knebworth Lynxes and scoring three goals was Olic Fan whilst Oliver Ajaegbu got 2 and Zac Iman and Jag Elliot-Andrew both got one apiece.
