St Albans City Youth FC - Match Reports w/e 6th March 2022

St Albans City Youth Under 11 South  v  Watton Youth Dragons

With Highfield Park waterlogged after recent storms St Albans City U11 South were kindly hosted by Watton Youth Dragons. On a muddy but playable pitch both teams battled hard and played some good football in a friendly but competitive match.

Evan Love opened the scoring when he was put through with a fine ball from Elijah Bailey. Evan then went down the wing and crossed for Toby Thomson to score. Alfie Sangster secured two great goals in the second half, including a wonderful chip over the keeper and two defenders.

It was great team performance. Zac Johnson was superb in goal, Hugo Landrove Perez worked tirelessly in midfield, the defence was solid with Toby Sumner having a great game but Player of the Match went to Elijah Bailey for a wonderful performance at the heart of the midfield, tackling, passing, great positional play and creating chances. Well played the South
.

St Albans City Youth FC Under 11 Lions  v  Wheathampstead Tigers

A very good performance from the Lions for most of today but a 5 minute spell of lost concentration & composure cost the boys dearly.  The score was goalless after the first half and the Lions were getting better attacking possession before conceding two goals in quick succession in the 3rd quarter.  Eddie Beard got the Lions back into the match with a stunning 25 yard volley but there were to be no more goals. A captain’s performance earned Eddie joint Player of the Match alongside Mateo Sacota, who put in an eye catching, assured performance at left back and centre midfield.

St Albans City Youth FC Under 9 East  v  Wheathampstead Sharks

SACY East Under 9 Boys battled through a tough game away at Wheathampstead Sharks. The early stages were tight with Jake Davenport impressing with some great saves. The team had some great passing moves with Bertie Henson, Archie Hunter, Senanu Ameadah and Harry Brewer moving the ball around well. Thomas H made some great runs down the middle with Louis Burt and Danny Kennedy always offering in support. Captain Kian Guigonnet directed his team well and finally the goals came from Joshua Smith and Jake Davenport. Harry Brewer was man of the match with an all-round competitive performance plus some great skills.
